Close Month

Menu Path: Monthly > Close Month

At the end of each month, the user should complete this function. The system performs two tasks. First, the post month is advanced one month. If it is the twelfth month that is to be advanced, then the post year is advanced as well. Second, if the system includes meter readings, the system will calculate the average monthly consumption for each open account based upon the consumption history.

Closing the month is independent of entering readings and processing bills. The user may coordinate the Close Month process with billing, but it is the user’s choice and not a requirement of the system.
