CHAPTER DIRECTORS’ COMMENTS

Saturday, February 16th was our chapter’s 21st Anniversary Party. (Where were you?) . 31 of our friends attended and we all had a great time. We would like to have more friends show up next year so put it on your calendar. The bowling party had 13 people and high game was rolled by Kitty it was a 171. She said it was all due to her new ball it just curved right in. I think the guys need to practice more. Cindy Parsons broke 100 with the help of the bumpers, way to go Cindy. 15 went to dinner at The Texas Road House.

The bus trip to D.C. on April 6th now has 29 people signed up. This will fill the small bus we have on hold. The dead line is February 24th. If any one still wants to go, we can get a larger bus but we need to fill 50 some seats.

The 1st Annual Chapter K Hobo Stew is May 18th. We need everyone’s support and I know we’ll get it. It will be held outside at the pavilion on the Enola Sportsman’s ground.

We want to thank all the people on our staff for their support and help over the last few months, and everyone in the chapter for their understanding as Maria and I get adjusted to our new home.

CHAPTER EDUCATOR’S COMMENTS

Well Ground Hog day is past and the furry little critter sez six more weeks of winter. Some of us have not ridden since last fall, others have not stopped riding. Those who kept riding have not had a chance to get rusty, only their bikes will if they don’t keep the crud cleaned off. The rest of us are starting to get antsy about riding. Myself, I am counting down until the Trike comes out of hibernation. If we get a couple of nice days in a row it may be taken for a short ride to get the reflexes back in shape.

If you are like me and have not ridden over winter please don’t jump on the bike and go for a long ride. Instead take a short ride to make sure that the bike is working OK. You did check it out before you started, didn’t you? Your battery is fine because you had a battery tender on it over winter. Your tank had stabilizer put in before the bike was put away. However people don’t have a place to connect a battery tender or a lid you can open and pour stabilizer into so it is the human part that needs polished. A section of road where you know every twist and turn, and every pothole too, will work to get you ready for a longer ride. You all know the drill-smoothly leave out the clutch while feeding in a little throttle. Darn, stalled it, I guess I did get a bit rusty over winter. I will have to polish up on that. Do you need to polish up your riding skills?

                Take care, be aware,

                       Denny

ENTERTAINMENT BOOK SALES RESULTS

Much effort was made by 15 of our Chapters members to make the 2008 entertainment book sales a great money making success. 78 books were purchased to sell netting a profit of $710.00 thus far. The more books we sell over our goal (which was last year’s sales amount of 62 books) the more profit we make per book. The largest numbers of book sales were made by Gert & Joe Bryson (18) and Vicki & Dave Hutchison (19). We will be selling the 2009 books starting in August; they can be used as soon as they are purchased.

Rally Registration Flyers will be available at the Gathering

DISTRICT NEWS

The rally flyers are out and available from your Chapter Director, Assistant Chapter Director, and/or from the web page. Get your rally registration in early and avoid the rush and assure yourself a place at the rally.

One major change this year is “TO COMPETE IN ANY RALLY EVENT, YOU MUST BE FULLY REGISTERED FOR THE RALLY”; Ex:  Bike Show, Light Show, Chapter Competitions, Hospitality Room and COY competition.

Remember, this year our “CASH BONANZA” gives you 40 chances to win. There will be (2) $1,000.00 winners, (2) $500.00 winners, (4) $250.00 winners, (10) $100.00 winners and (22) $50.00 winners.

The tickets will sell for $5.00 each and we are asking ALL the chapters to support this fundraiser for 2008.

In addition, 50% of the net profits will be divided among the 24 chapters based on the number of tickets each sold to do with as they see fit. So the more tickets the chapter sells the bigger their percent of return in the final distribution.

We will be supporting the West End Food Pantry in Johnstown. The following items are needed:

KETCHUP                       MUSTARD

SALAD DRESSING    PEANUT BUTTER 18 OZ JAR

REGION NEWS

You can help set a record in The FAMOUS Guinness Book of Records for the Worlds Largest Gold Wing Motorcycle Parade ever to be established.

When and where?  Wing Ding 30, on July 3-6, 2008, in Greensboro, South Carolina, we will be the first to establish this new record category. The Event Management Staff of Wing Ding 30 has made contact with Guinness, filed all the proper applications and have received back their confirmations. They have been working directly with the City of Greenville CVB, as well as media coverage for the record attempt. To make the event worthy of consideration, we must provide 4 independent counts as well as a video or DVD of the attempt and the proper paperwork, which the Event Staff will provide.

Why? Because we can, after all…We are Gold Wing Road Riders!  Our goal is to get at least 1100-1200 Gold Wings in the parade, so please pass the word that EVERYONE’ s assistance will be needed.

Mike and Julie Walters, our Region Couple of the Year Coordinators, have decided that, effective immediately, they are relocating to the Sunshine State.  . So Florida’s gain will be New Jersey’s loss.
